Australia is 'very well connected internationally' to be able to gather information on Omicron

Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly says Australia’s Department of Health is “very well connected” with international partners and are gathering information about the Omicron variant.

“We are very well-connected internationally. We're getting information directly from the World Health Organisation but other countries,” Professor Kelly said.

“Professor Michael Kidd, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, is in close contact with his South African colleagues in the general practice network.

“We have other meetings planned.”
