Published at : March 05, 2022
Talks to try to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine are underway, but heavy shelling continues on several fronts. Ukraine has warned that a "crucial 24 hours" is ahead. It added that Russian troops appear to have slowed the pace of their offensive. A curfew in the capital Kyiv has been lifted. Hundreds of thousands of people, who have spent days in darkness underground, have been able to venture out for food and supplies before heading back to safety. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he plans to release prisoners to help defend the country.
