A major fire broke out at a garment store in Char Khamba Road, Model Town, Ludhiana, on Friday morning. The three storey building of ‘Lucky Towel House’ was gutted in the fire and the entire stock of garments of various brands was reduced to ashes.

The incident occurred at around 10 am. The flame started from ground floor. While the shopowner and his employees also tried to douse the flame, they were unable to control the blaze while intensified within a short time. Employees then rushed out to save their lives. Most of the stock of expensive branded clothes worth lakh was gutted in the flame.


The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
